Dementia Care & Memory Care
These are communities especially designed for memory-impaired seniors with dementia or Alzheimers. Declining cognitive function puts the senior at risk living alone, which makes 24-hour support and structured activities vital to safety and quality of life. The needs of these residents also make it very difficult for families who attempt to care for their loved ones at home.
Caregivers in communities catering to dementia and Alzheimers provide around-the-clock care with services such as bathing, dressing, medication monitoring, meals and snacks.
Activities help seniors reduce agitation, tension, and anxiety. Memory Care communities provide a supportive environment to promote quality of life, personalized care, safety, and independence in a secured community.
Dementia care is delivered in the assisted living setting, as well as in nursing homes and occasionally in personal care homes.
Accommodation types range among semi-private apartments to individual rooms in campus-style housing. Most of these living environments have secured or locked areas to ensure safety.
